Chardonnay La Grande Réserve 2018
It was a long dream of Champlain Charest, one of Canada's greatest wine connoisseurs- and also one of Queylus' owners- that Domaine Queylus would someday produce a 'Grand Vin' from Chardonnay, one that was complex, yet subtle, rich yet restrained, balanced, long, and age-worthy. This resulting Grande Reserve is alluringly perfumed with layers of deep fruit and floral notes, a silky mid-palate of vibrant flavours with fresh acidity and the solid mineral structure for ageing. Barrel-fermented and long-aged for complexity and nuance, it speaks clearly of its terroir. It is only fitting that we would select our best terroirs, and most subtle, harmonious barrels of Chardonnay for this small cuvee in honour of Champlain Charest.
